What was it really like to be backstage with The Rolling Stones in the mid-sixties? Backstage: The Rolling Stones by Gered Mankowitz, the incredible new ultra-large-format signed limited edition book from Ormond Yard Press, answers that question by putting you at the epicentre.

In Backstage, legendary Stones photographer Gered Mankowitz opens up this previously unexplored area of his Rolling Stones archives, and shares the very best of his backstage photographs of the Stones, taken in 1965 and 1967.

This ultra-large-format book measures 18 x 24 inches (45 x 60cm) when closed, and a staggering 36 x 24 inches (90 x 60cm) when open. Because of its sheer physical scale, this book is a fully immersive experience. This is the closest you can get to being backstage in the room with the Rolling Stones between 1965 and 1967. Looking at some of the spreads, it feels like you are right there with them.

Backstage is housed in a custom protective slipcase, with front cover artwork showing Mick Jagger (backstage at the London Palladium in 1967) and a back cover featuring Keith Richards (taken backstage on the Autumn 1965 US tour).

Backstage has 96 large format pages, with 100 stunning black and white photographs, reproduced in sizes up to 24×36 inches (60x90cm), an introductory essay by Gered Mankowitz, and is limited to 750 copies worldwide. Each copy is individually numbered and signed by Gered Mankowitz.

Displaying your book

Why not treat yourself to the optional custom slide-in slide-out acrylic wall mounted display unit, made especially to display your slipcased copy of Backstage on the wall ?

We deliberately leave the front and back covers of all our books free of text so that they can be enjoyed in this way, on the wall as a work of art in their own right. You can choose to display Mick, or flip it over to Keith when you want a change of scenery. The wall unit also answers the question “Where do I put this book?”

Any book published by Ormond Yard Press will fit in the wall unit.
