Blondie by Martyn Goddard

Parallel Lines picture disc revisited—and reversed

Martyn Goddard photographed Blondie extensively in 1978, and his Blondie photographs were the subject of an exhibition at our Piccadilly Arcade gallery in London back in 2016.

One of Martyn’s best known images of Debbie Harry appeared on the picture disc release of Parallel Lines, and also on the picture sleeve of the seven inch version of “Picture This.” The record company art department made the decision (accidentally or deliberately) to reverse the photograph, and show Debbie looking from left to right, instead of the right to left orientation of the original photograph.

Well, Martyn has decided to correct that wrong, and has released a circular limited edition photograph, face mounted on perspex, supplied ready to hang. Think of it as a large version of the Parallel Lines picture disc if you like, just without the grooves or the centre hole, and reversed to the correct orientation.

It is available to order as a signed limited edition in a choice of two sizes, a 50cm diameter and a 100cm diameter, each one ready to hang, straight from the shipping box.
