Project Description

Jamie Byrne

We are delighted to be representing artist Jamie Byrne, and are offering his original commissions and signed limited editions at the gallery.

(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?

Graphic novel album commissions

The image above is the first of Jamie Byrne’s incredible graphic novel album commissions, in which he takes a favourite LP and represents each of the tracks in graphic novel style. We commissioned Jamie to start this new collection with (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, an album that needs no introduction to Oasis fans.

Once an original is created, Jamie will then make limited editions of ten in a choice of two smaller physical sizes.

Morning Glory limited editions are available to order online now via the button below.

If you are looking for something special in a large physical format unique to you, then here’s the good news: Jamie will create a bespoke original commission for you, focusing on your album of choice, made with a 100 x 100 cm/ approx 40 x 40 inch image size (or a custom size that suits your particular space). Each original commission is signed and numbered 1/1 by Jamie.

An original commission can be made in a choice of printing methods/framing styles, which we can discuss with you as part of the commissioning process. For Morning Glory, the original commission is made on high gloss coated aluminium and framed in a tray frame without glazing. Original commissions take 4/5 weeks from placing an order.

You can commission your own favourite LP in graphic novel style, or order a Morning Glory limited edition via the links below.

Britpop portraits

We also offer Jamie’s Britpop portraits – featuring Liam and Noel, Richard Ashcroft, Ian Brown and Jarvis Cocker – drawn by Jamie in a distinctive graphic novel style and characterised by tight cropping.

Collectors can choose from either a dramatic 35 x 35 inch version on canvas in a distressed wooden frame or a smaller window mounted version with an image measuring 13 x 13 inches in a 20 x 20 inch mount.

The artwork on display at the gallery – showing the two distinct sizes

Jamie Byrne’s passion stems from British subcultures – Mods, Rockers, Teds, Skinheads, Rudeboys, Punks and Casuals.  His artwork is inspired by these youth cultures and the music that accompanies them.

Jamie explains: “Musically I’m drawn to many genres, all of which fuel my artwork. I’m driven by how our small Island stands at the forefront of so many critical moments in popular cultural history.”

For the last 10 years Jamie has been working under the pseudonym Jaymokid, creating his own style of artwork that has evolved over time and into bespoke commission pieces. For several years Jamie was the commissioning artist for Ocean Colour Scene, creating two album covers and all of their tour merchandise in that time. He has also created commissions for Lambretta Clothing and merchandise for Horace Panter of the Specials.

His new body of work which we are launching at the gallery is inspired by graphic novels.
