Eric Meola’s Born To Run session photographs from 1975 are well known to our clients: they were the subject of what was , without a doubt, the most popular exhibition we have ever held at the gallery. So it is with great pleasure that we are now able to offer collectors the chance to purchase, for the first time, some beautiful studio portraits of Bruce taken by Eric in 1978 for Darkness on the Edge of Town. Bruce was searching for a new look after Born To Run, and would often arrange sessions with a number of different photographers when deciding the cover image for his next album. These beautiful session photographs for Darkness were not used at the time, and have never been published before. This is the very first time that collectors have the opportunity to acquire one of these very personal portraits of the Boss.
There are four different photographs available from the shoot, and each shows Bruce against a studio background, in a different outfit each time.. Each limited edition photograph is available in a choice of three physical sizes: starting with a small but perfectly formed 8 x 8 inch (20cm x 20cm) image size (edition of 25 worldwide), then a generous 16 x 16 inch image size (also an edition of 25), and finally an epic 32 x 32 inch image size (in an edition of just 10 worldwide).
The logic behind the 8×8 inch image size is to offer you the option of having something smaller on your walls at home: when framed, the smaller size comes out at around 14×15 inches. If you have room, the four images work really well as a set together, so having the smaller size in the range offers you the opportunity to have a complete set hung together on a normal size wall at home. The 8×8 version is also being released at a very keen launch price which we believe is excellent value in these horrible times.
The feedback that we receive all the time from collectors on the quality of Eric’s prints ranges from “Wow!” to “ Holy S**t these are incredible!!” Framing can be organised for UK customers. Delivery charges depend on destination. If you have any questions, just get in touch.
