Ginger Baker, Cream’s Farewell Concert, Albert Hall, London 1968

This shot is of Ginger playing his well-known drum solo Toad.

Cream’s last show was filmed by Tony Palmer so there was a bit of extra light which reflected off the stage to give a mirror like image of England’s finest drummer in action.

Rory Gallagher and Yes opened the show and Cream’s manager Robert Stigwood was entertaining us in the backstage bar. It wasn’t until we heard the opening chords of White Room, that we cheerfully rushed off to get to the show. It was sad that the band broke up too soon, though they certainly inspired many other bands to come, notably Led Zeppelin!
