We’ve hunted high. We’ve hunted low. We’ve even hunted in the middle and poked around in the corners.

The reason – we couldn’t rest until we had assembled the most jaw droppingly beautiful body of work we have ever put on the gallery walls.

So here come the girls. Our celebration of some of the most incredible women in the history of popular culture is now on. Here are just a few of the treats we’ve unearthed:

• A blinding tryptich of Debbie Harry colour portraits by NYC photographer Kate Simon, made with a 40 inch high image and which have never been exhibited before
• Joan Jett as we’ve never seen her before, pocket sized rock ‘n’ roll perfection against a background of tuile and satin by Mick Rock
• Jane Fonda as Barbarella by British photographer Paul Joyce, including a previously unpublished portrait from Paul from the Barbarella set
• Raw, gritty, beautifully lit portraits from Godlis, including his iconic Patti Smith portrait, shot outside CBGB
• Tina Turner by Tony Frank, a study of marital bliss with Ike
