Project Description

Matt Sparrow works in oils, and paints witty photo-realistic still life portraits combining his love of music and cultural artefacts—and the inextricable link between the two.

His paintings are a celebration of an important record and the objects he includes relate in some way to the content of the album that forms the centrepiece of each painting.

Matt is available for commissions of still life paintings based on your favourite albums. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a commission.

Once a painting is made, Matt creates a limited edition version—as a print on paper, signed and numbered on the front in the white border under the image.

Matt’s first still life piece is based around Blur’s Parklife.

On a table in a greasy spoon cafe, Matt includes a “doorstep” bacon sandwich and a quintessential bottle of HP brown sauce—fitting accompaniments for this still life featuring Blur’s 1994 album Parklife. We love the blurred effects towards the edges of the artwork, perhaps a subtle reference to the band.

Limited edition prints of Matt Sparrow’s original painting are available to purchase.

Here is an example of a framed print on the gallery wall.
The image size is 50 x 50 cm and the overall framed dimensions are 71 x 75 cm.
We offer a choice of either a black or white frame.
