Born to Run at 50

Bruce Springsteen by Eric Meola: The anniversary collection

Fifty years ago, on 20 June 1975, Bruce Springsteen and Clarence Clemons visited Eric Meola’s New York City studio. While music by Van Morrison and the Rolling Stones played on his turntable, Eric took what was to become one of the most recognisable photographs in the iconography of rock and roll. You know it—how could you not?—Bruce and Clarence wrapped around the gatefold sleeve of Bruce’s third album, Born to Run, released in August of that same year.

Now fifty years have passed. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, Eric has revisited his archives from that day, creating eight new limited editions to offer to collectors—five as single images, and three multi-image pieces.

For the first time, for the pieces in this new collection, Eric is offering collectors the chance to commission a custom larger size to suit your specific space. The maximum size for a single image is a staggering 60 x 90 inch sheet size (approximately 150 x 225 cm), but anything up to that maximum is possible if you want to make a real impact in your space.

We have created a new section of the website which gathers together the new pieces, with an introduction by Eric giving some background to the shoot and his reflections on it fifty years later. We are taking orders now.
