First UK exhibition
This will be the first time that Frank Stefanko has shown his work in the UK, and we are delighted that he has chosen Snap to be the gallery to host this exhibition. Frank is perhaps best known for the photographs that appeared on the covers of Bruce Springsteen’s albums ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’ and ‘The River’, and so while it’s mainly about The Boss, the exhibition also features photographs of two other important New Jersey musicians : Patti Smith and Southside Johnny Lyon.

Exclusive limited editions
The exhibition includes many special pieces that are being offered for the first time anywhere in the world. Frank is making work from his archive available in small limited editions in a range of sizes to suit every wall space, from 16x20 inch silver gelatin prints, right up to one off versions measuring a show stopping seven feet high. So while Frank has previously exhibited work from his archives, this show is going to be a little different to exhibitions he has done before, for two - no , make that three reasons :

1. The exhibition includes, for the first time, photographs from Frank’s 2004 shoot at Bruce's farm in Colts Neck, NJ.
2. Frank is making some special multi image pieces and out takes available to collectors for the first time, including the beautiful nine image contact sheet from the Darkness on the Edge of Town session that we have put in pride of place on the cover of the exhibition catalogue ( downloadable as a PDF below)
3. We have the luxury of a large gallery space and we are taking advantage of it by showing some of the work in what we are affectionately callling the "Big Ass" series - which are a staggering seven feet tall....

Late additions - Unseen Bruce from The River
It’s always nice to discover some buried treasure and put it on show. We were delighted to unwrap a ‘surprise package” from Frank Stefanko that arrived just before the start of our “The Swamps of Jersey” exhibition, as it contained a beautiful unpublished outtake of Bruce Springsteen from The River cover shoot, only recently discovered by Frank in his archives. It’s a close up of Bruce with a wonderful expression on his face. There are also couple of other pieces in the exhibition that are not included in the catalogue, but which are also available: “Point Blank” and “The Call”. If you browse the gallery interior shots ( accessible using the “view gallery interiors “ button ) you will see them framed on the wall, or alternatively you can see them all together if you click on the ‘NEW BRUCE’” button at the bottom of the page.
