You can almost imagine the phone call. Hey Jean-Marie: want to do a shoot with one of the worlds most beautiful women, right here in Paris? Tough assignment, but someone had to take it. This is our favourite of Jean-Marie's Francoise Hardy photographs. This was actually taken on the first of his many shoots with her. As Jean-Marie puts it himself, " Nous ne nous connaissions que depuis quelque heures. Comment ai-je obtenu un tel regard?" ( We had only met a few hours ago. How did I get such a look?) See how Jean-Marie positioned Francoise left of centre to be able to emphasize the curve of the River and show the Parisian scene behind her - the background is just like something from a renaissance painting.
