Announcing some special events at the gallery to celebrate the launch of Ricochet : David Bowie 1983

Great news today for David Bowie aficionados as we announce some special events at the gallery on Saturday 14 July 2018 with acclaimed photographer Denis O’Regan – to celebrate the launch of his groundbreaking new limited edition box set Ricochet : David Bowie 1983.

Ricochet : David Bowie 1983 is the most ambitious Bowie book project ever, focusing entirely on just one year in David’s life, when he toured the world for the first time in five years. This is the first project to be authorised by the David Bowie estate, and the certification includes the official estate stamp, designed by Jonathan Barnbrook. It is a museum quality fine art boxed set, limited to 2000 copies worldwide, published by Moonlight Books.

Ricochet : David Bowie 1983 contains just under one thousand exceptional personal and intimate images, many shared for the first time. Each image featured was approved personally by David Bowie. The package contains five books, three signed limited edition photographs and other extras including a special red vinyl twelve inch single featuring ‘Ricochet’ and a Nile Rogers remix of ‘Let’s Dance’.

No expense has been spared on putting this package together. At its heart is a beautiful large-format limited edition hardcover book, but Ricochet : David Bowie 1983 is so much more than just a book. A special acrylic presentation box houses the contents, which are designed in layers, with each layer revealing its own contents and those of the layer beneath, until finally, the book is revealed. Every aspect of the package, including the external packaging with its carrying handle, has been treated as an individual design project, and the attention to detail is quite staggering.

Ricochet : David Bowie 1983 is my long anticipated collaboration with David – an ambitious and comprehensive behind the scenes insight into a year documenting a true legend. I’m proud and honoured that this book was made with David’s support, and I’m delighted to be able to share these photographs with fans and collectors.” – Denis O’Regan

The 50 x 60 cm (20 x 24 inch) acrylic box housing the contents of Ricochet : David Bowie 1983, with the exclusive red vinyl 12 inch single.

Ricochet : David Bowie 1983 is available to order now. First deliveries will be in the middle of July 2018.

David Bowie, Hong Kong, 1983: “I think it’s sweet and very David – partly because there’s a full ashtray next to him! He’s boyish and unguarded and it’s the sort of picture that you would never capture unless you were close to David for a period of time”. Denis O’Regan
