Karl made the cover photographs for many of Jimi Hendrix's early albums, and also worked with Donovan, and Cream.

Karl Ferris was Jimi Hendrix’s personally chosen International album cover photographer and designer from 1966 to 1969. He also did similar work for Donovan, Cream, Hollies, Walker Brothers and Graham Nash.
Jimi had seen Karl’s portfolio and asked him to be his photographer and reshoot the cover for his album “Are You Experienced” and produce something more psychedelic to represent his music. Ferris went on to produce images that appeared onto three more of Jimi’s US album covers which were “Axis Bold As Love”, “Electric Ladyland” and “Smash Hits”.
