The Eagle Has Landed - feedback on Born To Run Revisited

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/the-eagle-has-landed-feedback-on-born-to-run-revisited/

When we launched our new publishing arm, Ormond Yard Press, we were taking a step into the unknown. Would you go for the idea of ultra large format limited edition photography books on niche subjects within the rock & roll genre, presenting images in their entirety across double page spreads?

Well, the eagle has landed, books are hitting doormats around the globe, and the answer so far is a resounding "Yes". The feedback from the first clutch of customers to receive their Born To Run Revisiteds has blown us away. In particular we loved this photograph that Jim from Marietta, Georgia sent us of him with his book. That is the smile of a satisfied man. As he put in his note, "received the package yesterday and I am loving it!" One really important thing that this photograph of Jim hammers home is the sheer physical scale of these books. They really are like nothing you will have seen before.

We're posting reviews on our blog as they come in - http://ormondyardpress.tumblr.com/

Here are some of our other favourite comments so far:

Received!
I received this morning a big black and white baby,
extraordinary,
he is really magnificent,
so happy ;-) Nathalie M, France

The book arrived safe and sound on Friday and I had it wrapped and under the tree before my wife got home. She opened it today and was absolutely "blown away." I didn't look at it beforehand so my first viewing was when she opened it. All I can say is that it is a wonderful piece of work. You, Mr. Meola, and everyone involved should be proud of what you have created. This is something we will always treasure. We are huge Bruce Springsteen fans so this means a lot to us.I thank you for making this happen and for adding so much to our holidays this year. All our best to you, William G, Virginia USA

Your "Born To Run Rev" book is awesome! Guido H, Italy

Took delivery of the above last week, and I have to say I'm thrilled with the content, format, and quality! A superb initial publication from Ormond Yard Press. I await with interest your next edition, trusting that now you have set the benchmark it will be in the same ' class leading ' bracket ? Ray C, Warks, England [ Ray - it will ! ]

The books arrived just in time. They are beautiful! Well done! The gift was a big hit and I, of course, love mine. Thanks for all your help and happy new year. Craig B, California, USA

The book and case arrived safely on Friday. Thank you.It is stunning ! and my husband is over the moon with it. It looks wonderful in the wall mounted slipcase. Many thanks for your help. Karen J Shrewsbury UK

Please bear in mid that the clock on the edition is ticking. Books are selling fast, so the practical timing issue is simply when we run out and sell all 500 copies in the edition. So our advice is, if you want one, best to get it now and avoid disappointment.

You can order online here, or call us at the gallery

Hang your book on the wall

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/hang-your-book-on-the-wall/

Special acrylic slide in slide out wall display case

Make no mistake, Born to Run Revisited is a big book, and we wanted to give you some different display options. Of course you can put it on your coffee table or (big) bookshelf, but we felt it deserved something a bit special. At the design stage of the book/slipcase we took a conscious decision to keep the cover free of text, so that nothing detracts from the power of the chosen front and back cover images. That notion gave rise to the idea of this display unit - because it means you can, should you choose to, display your book just like a piece of art on the wall - which is what it is, after all.

Constructed from 5mm clear acrylic, this is a solid, elegant and practical way to display your book on your wall in its slipcase. It measures 18.5 inches (w) x 25 inches (h) x 1.5 inches (d). That's approximately 47cm x 64cm x 4cm.

It is open sided on the left and right, allowing you to slide your book (and please read 'book' as 'book and slipcase' here) in and out whenever you want to look at the contents. You also have the flexibility to show the front or the back of the book and flip it over if you feel like a change of view.

It has curved edges, and a split baton hanging system on the reverse. Special acrylic 'feet' at the bottom ensure that it hangs parallel to the wall.

It is a nice, simple, solid piece of work. The cost is GBP 350 + shipping.

If you would like a display case, you can order one online here or get in touch with us at the gallery.

Classic seventies images from Keith Morris

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/classic-seventies-images-from-keith-morris/

We've added some new images from the archives of the late great Keith Morris to the gallery, and these are now online.

The selection includes important photographs of Nick Drake from the Five Leaves Left session, and of Marc Bolan from 1971 and 1972, including this beautiful Maida Vale studio portrait shown alongside. This studio shoot with Marc Bolan is one of Keith Morris’ most famous sessions. This photograph would look incredible in the 30 x 40 inch size, reverse mounted in perspex - a frameless frame where the pure image appears to float off the wall. We've mocked up the effect in the picture alongside. As you can see, you get a slab of 30x40 inch art for you wall. Amazing!

You can read about Keith Morris and view other images including Elvis Costello and Motorhead here.

More on the Born To Run Revisited book

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/more-on-the-born-to-run-revisited-book/

Wow.

Pre-orders are now well into three figures for Eric Meola's beautiful new limited edition large format book, Born To Run Revisited so a huge thank you to everyone who has placed an order. It's great to know this is hitting the mark with so many people. It's a special book and we're really proud of it.

Four bits of news on this

1.We've started a blog to share some stories behind the making of this wonderful book.

2. Shipping is still on track for the second half of December - best estimates at this point are that we will start shipping on 19 December 2011 and get them to you in time for Christmas

3. Hot off the press we have details on the bespoke hanging system we have commissioned to display the book on the wall - that is covered in detail here

4. We have a preview brochure for the book, which folds out to reveal an actual size spread, 24x36 inches, and gets across nicely the epic scale involved. If you would like one in the post, just ask (and tell us your postal address). No need to widen your letter box - it starts out small and opens out big once you get it in the house.

For detailed information about the book, and to place an order, just click here or get in touch with us at the gallery.

Out of the Darkness

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/out-of-the-darkness/

When we first offered this magnificent photograph, 'Darkness', by Eric Meola, in 2006, it captivated a lot of people - and for good reason. The composition is outstanding - and just look at that drama in the Nevada sky. The fact that it was Bruce Springsteen driving the Galaxie 500 towards the camera was an added bonus. Of course the question everyone who came to the exhibition wanted to know was: "How do we know it was really Bruce ?" Well the answer to that question came in 2010 when a photograph from that same session, showing Bruce sitting on the hood of the car, was used on the cover of The Promise LP.

Back in 2006, just five signed, numbered examples of Darkness were offered to collectors, all in a very large format, with a 30x30 inch image size. They all sold out very quickly. Well, one is now coming back on the market for the first time, as a client has decided it is time to free up some wallspace.

You can read some more about Darkness here. If you are interested in making an offer for this beautiful piece, please get in touch with us.

Equally as exciting - we have a very special example of Eric Meola's Born To Run album cover photograph, from a limited edition of 25 with a 12x18 inch image size. This size sold out on the primary market, and examples only come back on the market when one of the existing owners decides to sell.

Now is such a time. The special thing about this example is that the owner took his certificate of authenticity that comes with the photograph backstage to Bruce's 20 September 2009 concert in Chicago, and got Bruce to sign it. That was a concert where Bruce played the Born To Run album in sequence. A very nice extra that probably makes this a unique piece.

Again if you are interested in making an offer for this important photograph, get in touch.

Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers - before the fall

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/rolling-stones-sticky-fingers-before-the-fall/

We hosted an exhibition of classic photographs from Peter Webb's 1971 Rolling Stones sessions at the gallery this Summer. One of Peter's most famous images is "Falling Stones", a colour photograph of the band members all leaning to their left / our right as you view it . You'll know it: it is one of the most famous images in the rock 'n' roll photography genre.

The 'most asked question' during our Peter Webb exhibition was "What happened next - did the Stones fall on the floor in a huge heap?". Well the answer is a categoric "No" (actually you can tell that from the Falling Stones image - there are plenty of legs about to cross to start breaking the fall.)

Just as interesting for me is what happened before. Here's a glimpse. A previously unreleased black and white photograph of the Stones, lined up in military fashion, Keith being typically rebellious. Peter calls this one "Stone Wall" and it is now being offered for the first time, in limited editions in a range of sizes.

If you would like to join our 'Own a Stone' club, full price/size information is here

Born To Run Revisited: photographs by Eric Meola

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/born-to-run-revisited-photographs-by-eric-meola/

We are delighted to announce a new path in the gallery’s development, as we launch our brand new publishing division, Ormond Yard Press.

Now you can’t have a publishing division without a publication, and so we are also releasing full details of our first book: Born To Run Revisited with photographs by Eric Meola.

We hosted the world’s first gallery exhibition of Eric’s Bruce Springsteen photographs in 2006, and five years on, we are hugely proud that he has agreed to be the subject of the first title we publish under our Ormond Yard Press banner. It’s a hugely important subject in the history of rock ‘n’ roll, and deserves the epic treatment we are giving it.

Editions are strictly limited, to just 500 signed, numbered copies worldwide. The plan is for the book to be in your hands by Christmas, so it's a great present, and at a very keen price of £395 ( approx USD 630 / Euro 460 ) plus shipping.

Everything you need to know is set out in detail in a new section of the website devoted to Ormond Yard Press.

Please do take a few minutes out of your day to check this out. As you will see, this is a book on an epic scale - like nothing you will have seen before. It is, quite simply, extraordinary. See for yourself here.

If you would like to place an order, you can do so online, or alternatively just get in touch with us at the gallery.

Introducing Barrie Wentzell

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/introducing-barrie-wentzell/

Barrie Wentzell was born in England but now lives in Canada - but we won't hold that against him, as his archive of treats from the sixties and seventies is magnificent.

The special thing about Barrie's limited edition handmade silver gelatin photographs is that not only did he take the photographs in the first place (of course) but he also makes the prints in the darkroom himself - so when you buy one of Barrie's silver gelatins, you know that he has made the whole meal, from soup to nuts.

What is particularly exciting for us as we are presenting a number of Barrie's classic images exclusively to the collectors market for the first time. Worthy of note in particular are:

Pete Townshend, a colour photograph from 1968 taken at IBC studios where Pete was recording Tommy. He still has a very mod look (check out the desert boots and badge) and he's playing a 12 string guitar.

The Kinks, taken in 1968 on Hampstead Heath. We have always struggled to source good 1960s Kinks material so it is gratifying to be able to plug that particular hole.

Jimi Hendrix - a staggeringly beautiful solo portrait of Jimi in profile on stage at Woburn in 1968

Jimmy Page, photographed in an 'Olde Worlde Tea Shoppe' in 1970 and never made available until now

Check out the initial selection of Barrie's images online here. You'll find some classics - Beatles, Dylan, Diana Ross, Led Zep, more Hendrix and Who, Syd Barrett and more.

I am delighted that we are now working with Simon Fowler, who produced some beautiful music portraiture in the 1980s.

I have to admit that the 80s aren't a decade that we have featured heavily in the past at the gallery. I really need to put that right because, as the initial selection of work we are offering by Simon shows, there are some mighty rich pickings to be had.

The first thing to note is that as Simon's work is new to the collectors market, prices are very affordable ( starting at £195 for a signed limited edition ) and so they are perfect for Xmas presents.

Stand outs for me in this selection include

Aztec Camera's Roddy Frame, photographed with his guitar against a white studio background

a portrait of Voice of The Beehive's lead singing siblings Tracey and Melissa. (This one is particularly special and made me dig out my copy of their debut LP Let it Bee, which is a complete classic and you should find it forthwith if you've never heard it)

Simply Red's Mick Hucknall - from the cover session for their Picture Book LP

The beautiful miss Betty Boo in a tight pvc catsuit

Transvision Vamp's beautiful miss Wendy James - OK, bit of a beauty theme going on, let's pull it back to:

a New Romantic cornucopia featuring Boy George, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Human League, Talk Talk, and Howard Jones

one for the ladies, Mr Paul Young from the cover of his second album The Secret of Association

You can view all these images (and more) and read about Simon here

Smile or frown? That's an anagram of Simon Fowler. For me it's definitely a big smile.

Lightshow extravaganza - Amalie R Rothschild

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/lightshow-extravaganza-amalie-r-rothschild/

Here a blast from the past that we just came across and blew us away. Amalie R Rothschild was the in house photographer at Bill Graham's Fillmore East in New York in its heyday, and captured all the important visitors to the venue, against the background of the incredible light shows that were projected on the screen. These swirling psychedelic light shows formed the backdrop to the musical performances and defined psychedelia in visual terms.

The Joshua Light Show, and later, Joe's Lights, the pioneering light shows that deservedly received separate billing on the Fillmore East marquee, were the best in the business. As Amalie reflects, "These light shows were performances in their own right. The people behind the scenes who manipulated film, overhead and slide projectors, colour organs, strobe lights and a wealth of other equipment were just as much performers as the musicians onstage."

This is one of our favourite pieces - a montage presented in contact strip format of many different psychedelic lightshow effects. The concentrated bolts of colour and designs are a joy. Behold.....

You can check out Amalie's other photographs here

Born to Run. You know it.

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/born-to-run.-you-know-it/

During our recent Beatles Abbey Road exhibition, we went into the shadows and dark spaces of the famous Abbey Road session images and uncovered a host of previously unidentified characters. So far, almost 16,000 people have read the findings. Check it out if that kind of thing floats your boat. That whole exercise made me consider whether people actually see when they look at an iconic image. Born to Run is a great example. It's so familiar that people don't necessarily look at it all that closely.

If someone were to ask you how many people appeared on the cover what would you say? Two, right? Bruce and Clarence, on a gatefold sleeve. Wait...it's a trick question. It can't be that obvious. Of course...when you look closer you see that Bruce is wearing an Elvis badge - so that makes three. Elvis is the third person. That's the answer - three. Right?

Wrong. There are actually five people on the sleeve photograph. The other two are right there on the front: one is leaning up against a lamp post while the other is looking out of a window. Check them out here

Incredible isn't it. So how many times have you looked at that picture, without really seeing?

Pete McKee’s original paintings start at £1,500 and go up to £8,950. Sizes range from 16x16 inches to 32x42 inches framed size. They are set in a simple and elegant wooden frame, designed to hang flush on the wall - this one shown alongside is one of the signature pieces from the exhibition, The Beatles Get a Haircut, which measures 26x32 inches framed. Each painting is signed by Pete McKee on the front and titled on the reverse. Featured artists include Robert Johnson, Elvis, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jim Hendrix, and many many more. You can view them here

The original paintings in the show are of course unique pieces. We expect demand to be high. If you do fall in love with a piece, then be bold and seize the moment. If you don’t someone else surely will.

Pete McKee has selected three images from the current Great Moments in Popular Music exhibition to offer as limited edition screenprints.

Details of the first, The Beatles Get a Haircut, were released at the end of August.

We can now announce the other two images which are available in screenprint form.

The Weekenders (shown alongside) is Pete McKee's homage to Northern Soul Allnighters and, as Pete puts it, "to those pioneers, who, in the interest of having a good time, were prepared to dance all weekend aided by love, sweat and chemicals".

Pub Rocked is Pete's tribute to bands that started out playing on the pub circuit (The Who, The Jam, Dr Feelgood, etc.) As Pete says, it is "For those who shed blood to entertain us."

The Weekenders and Pub Rocked are £350, and The Beatles is £395. All three screenprints are now available to order, either online or through the gallery. The original paintings are also available to purchase.

They are framed to an identical size, 15x15 inches, and each one is signed and titled by Pete McKee. They are the perfect size for nooks and crannies, and work really well in pairs, trios etc - well, you get the idea.

They are beautiful little vignettes - subjects include Mick and Keith locked in the kitchen, The Velvet Underground, Debbie Harry, Paul Weller and many more. We've shown Mick and Keith alongside to give you a better idea of what they are.

Now here’s a nice twist - if you see a pencil drawing you love, and would like Pete to turn it into a painting, he will.

Beatles screenprint available to pre-order

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/beatles-screenprint-available-to-pre-order/

Here's a special opportunity for early birds to snaffle one of the new limited edition screenprints that are going to be available in our next exhibition, "Great Moments in Popular Music" by Pete McKee.

Great Moments in Popular Music - new paintings by Pete McKee

The exhibition consists of 27 original original paintings and 10 ink sketches, and features a diverse range of musicians from blues legend Robert Johnson onwards, taking in artists from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's on the way. This show has been a very exciting one to put together - every few days for the past couple of months an email from Pete would arrive with another classic image for the show completed. My excitement has been building over time, as the overall shape of the exhibition came into sharper focus with the revelation of each successive painting. The prize for best title of all the pieces in the show goes to 'The Batley Womens Guild Battle Recreation Society Present Blur v Oasis'. If you haven't seen the classic Monty Python sketch on which this one is based, check it out on YouTube here

The Beatles get a Haircut

The Beatles Get a Haircut (shown here) neatly sums up the essence of the exhibition. It features one of the most important groups in the history of popular music, but captures a left field moment which you won’t find in any standard Beatles biographical text. The painting depicts the moment as imagined by Pete, when the Beatles first acquired their moptops, and, as Pete puts it - paraphrasing John Lennon - “changed from Rockers to Mockers”. Pete’s work brings a smile to your face, and the subject matter of this exhibition is clearly close to Pete’s heart, and mine. The Beatles piece is classic McKee - George and Paul have been ‘mopped’, John and Ringo await their turn, their final few minutes as bona fide rockers preserved for posterity. Of course this isn’t exactly how it happened, but that’s not the point - it’s how Pete’s imagination works that is the point here, and how he applies his trademark wit to the subjects we know and love, reminding us to expect the unexpected.

Limited editions

The original paintings in the exhibition are by definition, complete one-offs. Pete always chooses a couple of paintings in a show to offer as limited edition screenprints, and this Beatles print is one of them. It is made in a limited edition of 75, each one signed and numbered on the front under the image area, on 50x70cm (19x27 inch) paper.

Pete's work has a worldwide following and his screenprints are extremely collectible and very good value. The launch price for this Beatles screenprint is GBP 395. Delivery is free within the UK, and there is a small delivery charge if you are outside these shores. You can order one online right now, right here or alternatively you can call the gallery and we will take your details.

The original painting will of course be on show in the exhibition, and is also for sale. This is a larger piece than the screenprint, and measures 26 x 32inches framed. If you feel you have to have the original, please get in touch.

45 revolutions per minute

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/45-revolutions-per-minute/

The 45 rpm single is a complete cultural icon. Remember your first time? All your old singles, in simple paper sleeves? Maybe you still even have them. If you don’t you’ll certainly remember the years you spent as a teenager playing 45s on a cheap record deck. For many music fans, consuming singles was a huge part of life - and a trip to your local record store was an important rite of passage.

Many of our clients are collectors of classic LP cover photography - often because they want a special link with a memory of something important from their past. So while we have always been able to provide access to classic LP sleeve art and session images, we have never been in position to offer anything like that when it came to classic singles, for the simple reason that (picture sleeves aside) there are no photographs on the covers of classic early rock ‘n’ roll 45s.

But as sure as eggs are eggs, singles are worthy of celebration - and for many people, their cherished music memories comes from classic singles rather than albums. So if we could find a way for people to celebrate a classic 7 inch single, through the medium of a piece of art in a visually arresting and innovative way, then that must be a good thing right?

Introducing Morgan Howell

Every now and again, we see something really inspirational. Often it is an idea that begs the question "Why hasn't someone done it before? " Well, luckily someone is doing it now, and doing it brilliantly. When we met British artist Morgan Howell, we felt we had found the motherlode. Here’s why: imagine your favourite seven inch, its bag worn at the edges through constant use. Now imagine that on large scale, around 27 inches x 27 inches ( 68 x 68 cm). That’s Morgan’s speciality - he creates original paintings of classic 7 inch waxings, but on a superscale. These are not paintings on flat canvas - these are 3D paintings, in handpainted worn bags, crinkled and creased at the edges by Morgan. So difficult to get across on a website, but amazing in the flesh.

Morgan’s paintings reproduce the label artwork in all its glory and also some stunning bag designs. Often overlooked in favour of picture sleeves and LPs, the paper bags for singles sleeves actually displayed some simple but beautiful designs. Makes sense when you think about it. Give a designer an empty surface, sooner or later he will design something to go on it.

Until the beginning of September we will be displaying two of Morgan’s paintings at the gallery - the Beatles Double A-Side, Hey Jude / Revolution. The paintings reflect two sides of the same double A-Side single, so you get a nice contrast between the front and back of the Apple Corps logo. The attention to detail is incredible: the creases on each side of the record bag even mirror each other. They are for sale as a pair.

One for yourself?

Morgan is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Art and his work has been shortlisted for The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He has already produced commissions for a number of high profile clients, and now we are offering you the opportunity to have your favourite 45 turned into one of Morgan’s original paintings to be displayed on your walls at home or at work.

Each original painting takes 4-6 weeks to produce and is supplied ready for hanging with a special mounting system that fits through the hole in the middle. Presented in the way, the sleeve and record appear to float off the wall. Alternatively, these artworks can be supplied in box frames for added protection. It’s all down to personal preference, and we can talk you through the options if you decide to go ahead.

If you or a loved one has a favourite single that you want to celebrate, in a big way, and you are interested in finding out more about Morgan’s commisions, please get in touch, and we can deal with any questions you may have.

Rolling Stones: Our Sticky Favourites

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/rolling-stones-our-sticky-favourites/

1. Random Stones ( shown alongside)

Our first pick is a previously unpublished group photograph, 'Random Stones'.

Only a small number of colour photographs exist from this session, and their impact derives in part from in their shock value - the shock being the combinations of textures and colours in the individual Stones' chosen attire. Just look at the colour combinations on Keith's outfit - his shirt, his belt, his trousers, his knee patches (yes!), topped off with a black snakeskin jacket with a small silver "nurse" badge on the lapel. Top marks have to go to Bill, though, a white suit with rounded lapels, and check out those ultra high waisted trousers, buttoning on the outside. Then Charlie, dapper as ever in green three piece, and Mick Jagger in a rather fine red velvet jacket with campaign medal, a stylish long collared paisley shirt and a black and white Irish cap perched nonchalantly on his head. You can't help feeling that Mick Taylor lets the side down a little in his medieval smock shirt. The variety of textures and colours come to life in 'Random Stones'. And look...don't you just love the fact that Charlie actually seems to have sticky fingers on his right hand.

Check out prices and size here, and make sure you click on the fullscreen button to see how it might look on your wall.

2. Twelve by Five (show below, centre)

Twelve by five is an enlarged black and white contact sheet of 12 images of the Stones. This one is like a mini-movie, and there are some expressive interchanges between the Stones, particularly on the middle strip. This photographs is made with black borders running to the edge of the paper, and Peter Webb signs and numbers this with a silver pen under the right hand column of images. In the gallery exhibition we are presenting it in the 30 x 40 inch paper size, which enables the viewer to see each of the twelve individual vignettes clearly. It works well in smaller sizes too. Check out prices and size here.

3. Sideways Stone (shown below, right)

The solo portraits of the Stones, including our pick here, Sideways Stone, were taken after the group session was completed, when Peter Webb invited the band individually to an upstairs studio set up with a 5x4 Sinar plate camera, whose depth of field was so slight that a wooden rod had to be placed at the back of each band memberʼs head, so there would not be the slightest movement backwards. We especially love this colour portrait of Mick. The Irish cap works brilliantly - at first glance it seems is as if it floats off his head. In the gallery exhibition, this is presented in 30 x 40 inch paper size, reverse mounted in an acrylic frameless frame, which displays the artwork in such a way that it appears to float off the wall itself. Check out prices and size here.

4. The Glimmer Twins ( shown below, left)

Here's our second favourite black and white group shot - The Glimmer Twins. (The Big Yawn is our winner folks). Mick and Keith both look so goddamn cheeky, like a pair of naughty schoolboys with their hands in their jacket pockets.Great textures here, both on the Stones outfits, and, strikingly, on the handpainted and heavily textured backdrop, painstakingly created by Peter Webb over a number of days prior to the shoot.Check out prices and size here

So those are some of our favourites - alongside the classic Big Yawn and Falling Stones images... and of course the two amazing circular artworks... and of course the great value Rogues Gallery images... difficult to pick just one, isn't it!

Rolling Stones; Peter Webb's Sticky Fingers classics

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/rolling-stones-peter-webbs-sticky-fingers-classics/

The Classics

Two of the images in the show are ‘nailed on’ classics and deserve a primary place in the photography collection of any self respecting Stones fan. They are called The Big Yawn and Falling Stones. (You’ll see that Peter Webb has a nice way with titles for his images.)

The Big Yawn is the image that will be familiar to anyone with the Sticky Fingers LP, as this appeared on the inside. Titled ‘The Big Yawn’ for reasons which become self evident when you look at this classic black and white studio portrait, this photograph is being presented in a huge 46 x 46 inch ( approx 120 x 120cm ) image size in the gallery exhibition. The Big Yawn also comes as a little yawn, in smaller sizes starting with a limited edition photograph with a 14x14 inch image on 16x20 inch paper.

Falling Stones, is one of the few surviving colour photographs from the 1971 session, and should also be well known among Stones fans as it achieved recognition and acclaim when it was chosen by Q Magazine as one of the top 100 rock ‘n’ roll photographs of all time. This is also available in a range of sizes, and in the gallery exhibition it will be presented in an ultra large version with an image almost six feet wide. It also comes in smaller size options.

Edition sizes are very small for the ultra large versions of these two pieces that we will be showing in the gallery - only five are being offered in this size, and both number 1/5 photographs have already been sold. If these large sizes appeal, please don’t hang around.

You can see the full range of prices and sizes for The Big Yawn here, and Falling Stones here

Rolling Stones: Peter Webb's Sticky Fingers circulars

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/rolling-stones-peter-webbs-sticky-fingers-circulars/

Don't you think?

I mean, think about it. If we are seriously going to celebrate a classic piece of black wax, then we need some art for the wall that echoes the shape of the vinyl. And so the concept of our Sticky Fingers circulars was born. No visible frame or mount, you might want to think of these as a bit like a great big picture disk for your wall if that helps get it across.

There are two circulars available - one black and white group shot, called 'Separate Stone' and one colour photograph, titled 'Laughing Stone'.

Each circular is available in a choice of two physical sizes - a 60cm (approx 24 inches) diameter, and a 90cm (approximately 36 inches) diameter. Edition sizes are very small; just five in the larger size and ten in the smaller variant. Each circular photograph is supplied ready for hanging, mounted behind 20mm ( almost 1 inch thick) acrylic with a hanging system on the reverse to keep it nice and safe on the wall. They are signed and numbered by Peter Webb on the reverse. Its a frameless frame, and so what you get is a clean, pure round image on the wall, like you see here.

There will be one in each size on the walls at the gallery, so you get the opportunity so see each size in the flesh at the gallery.

They look spectacular. But don't take our word for it.

Rolling Stones: The Sticky Fingers 'Rogues Gallery'

http://www.snapgalleries.com/news/rolling-stones-the-sticky-fingers-rogues-gallery/

As part of Peter Webb's first Sticky Fingers exhibition, we wanted to give Stones collectors the opportunity to take up a very special offer: a collection of five of Peter’s close up portraits of the individual Stones, which he affectionately refers to as 'The Rogues Gallery'. It was important for us to offer something in a small physical size at a very affordable price, to reflect the fact that not everyone has the wallspace or the budget for the larger format pieces that are for sale in the exhibition.

The Rogues Gallery images are available to purchase either individually or as a complete set of five. They are being offered as limited editions of 150 on 8 x 10 inch silver gelatin paper, each one signed and numbered by Peter Webb on the front under the image area. These prints are made from negatives recently discovered by Peter Webb after almost 40 years. Peter has selected these portraits to work either individually, or as a set, and the image sizes on each photograph are all set at exactly the same dimensions ( approximately 6.5 x 8 inches image size on 8 x 10 inch paper.)

So, if you like, you can pick out your favourites, be it Rogue Mick, Rogue Keith, Rogue Bill, Rogue Charlie or Rogue Mick Taylor, but as an incentive to collect the complete set, purchasers of all five individual black and white portraits receive:

1. A 20% discount over the individual black and white 8x10 prices, and, at no extra charge:

2. A superb signed limited edition 8 x 10 inch group shot, a previously unpublished and recently discovered colour image entitled “Random Stones”.

In the exhibition, no other photographs from Peter’s Sticky Fingers sessions will be offered in this 8x10 inch paper size.

The individual black and white 8x10 portraits are priced at GBP 150 each if you want to buy them separately. The launch price for the complete set, which includes the five individual Rogues Gallery images plus the previously unpublished Random Stones 8 x 10 inch colour photograph is GBP 600.The 8x10 Random Stones is not available to purchase separately.

You can order the complete set here
