London Calling by Pennie Smith - one of the most iconic photographs in the history of the music genre - is set for a new year stamp release. And in London, the original cover artwork fetched £72,000 at auction. Cor Blimey.

Philately has never been particularly rock 'n' roll, but things are set to change.

Pennie Smith's London Calling cover shot is to be honoured with an appearance on a first class stamp being issued by The Royal Mail on 7 January 2010.

The iconic London Calling cover photograph has the accolade of being chosen by Q magazine as the best rock 'n' roll photograph of all time, and Pennie offers it as a signed handmade silver gelatin print, signed on the front under the image area.
